Taking advantage of a break in the weather, I headed out during the Golden Hour to a local pond that was offering a spectacular autumn scene, replete with great leaf color, reflections, and a few geese to boot! The light was filtered and even, and the water surface calm, thus producing magical reflections.
By zooming in tighter, I was able to create an intimate October scene that should make anyone feel at peace when viewing it.
“Autumn Paradise”
After capturing some glorious moments at a local pond, just a few miles from this location, I headed out to the former estate of Roscoe W. Smith, who brought electricity to Orange and Rockland counties (in New York) with his own two hands. He turned his early proclivities in mechanical tinkering and business to pioneer electric service, eventually forming the company that morphed into Orange and Rockland Utilities.
His former estate is in ruins, but offers so many architectural oddities, that it was begging me to properly capture it in its current dilapidated and fascinating state!
The beautiful light, only found in October during the Golden Hour, softly illuminated the autumn landscape that quietly embraced what once was, the beautiful grounds of Mr. Smith’s estate.
