Around the same time I shared the news about the USPS 2025 Appalachian Trail Stamp Series, I also mentioned that I was hired/selected to photograph the Stony Point Lighthouse for a permanent exhibit that will commemorate the lighthouse’s bicentennial.
Well, what you see here is a mock-up rendering the exhibit designer created to show my photo on the wall as you enter the lighthouse gallery.
NOTE: This design is still in process, and is NOT the final rendering.
As per my contractual agreement, I can not use the purchased photograph for personal use as it belongs to the “New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation” organization.
I can however, personally use the other images that I captured the time I was there photographing for this collaboration.
The committee, after a few meetings, narrowed down their choices to two images. In the end, they chose the one I composed from a stone platform during the golden hour right before sunset. The other photo that was under serious consideration was shot at dusk; I can and will share that composition in the upcoming days….
The installation of the exhibit won’t happen until around December of 2025 and the opening celebration for the exhibit will be Saturday, April 18, 2026, when the site reopens for the bicentennial year of the Lighthouse.
I am invited to be a part of the creative team that made the exhibit happen, and to take a “bow” when the 6’x9′ vinyl display is unveiled!
This project was an absolutely wonderful experience, and I was honored to be a part of it; the possibility exists for future projects with the NYS Parks Department, as well!
